The mountain is located in southern Bandung, easy access, the altitude is 1922 mdpl so it is not take many time to reach the summit, but it has special track and mystical.
Mount Rakutak is one of the mountains which r rising prestige, so many beginners n experienced climbers to climb this mountain.
One of the access to mount Rakutak is through from Desa Sukarame, Kecamatan Pacet, Kabupaten Bandung, West Java. First u must get the permit from Himpala Rakutak communities nature lover managed at their basecamp.
The history after Indonesian independence the war was broke out betwen DI/TII againts armed forces. The forrest area south of Bandung used as a guerrilla by DI/TII hordes bcoz the steep hilly geoghraphy n vast forrest n lush, a lot of victims died in that war. Maybe this is the one that resulted in Mount Rakutak where is located in southern Bandung became mystical.

If ur lungs good, u will take onion garden n palawija track with uphill track for 2-3 hours to post 1st. At post 1st there is a warung coffe snack (can u believe me??) but there is no water sourch, so u must bring the water supplies from basecamp.

After post 1st, the next post is "Tegal Alun" for 45 minutes. U can build camp here or only take a coffe break as u checking ur knee. There is a water sourch for 15 minutes down the valley. That is the last water sourch before the summit of Mount Rakutak. So u r advised to bring adequate water supplies from here becouse next post there is no warung anymore. hahhaahaaaa... :D
Then u can boost ur knee to the pseudo peak for an hour.

At the opened pseudo peak, u can enjoy the scenery around.
From here shows the main peak of Mount Rakutak ridge shape which is very thin n flanked by ravines on either side.
As seen in the picture below, this pathway is called "Jembatan Shiratol Mushtaqim".
"Jembatan Shiratol Mushtaqim" only 1.5 meters wide, about 200 meters long until the main peak of Mount Rakutak.

The summit is waiting in front of u
The top of Mount Rakutak has marked by altitude n peaks information, that is made simple by Himpala Rakutak communities nature lover. There enough space for built some tents.
From top of Mount Rakutak to north side u will look Majalaya town n Ciparay town. Mount Cikuray n Ciharus lake r visible at the southeast.

Finally we reach 1922 mdpl the peak of Mount Rakutak.
Mountain climbing activities not entirely save by risk. It takes preparation to perform these activities, starting from physical fitness, nutrition, mental, information about destination area, etc.
The worst risk that may be happen are lost, lack of food or water, injured or sprains, Hypothermia n even death.
Then u should understand n implement the "Management of expedition" in order to minimize the worst risk.
Almost for about two years Mount Rakutak became the object that r frequently visited by guests. During that time the stucturing processes r build n running for the environment preservation, comfortable n safety for guests.
Let us together to protect natural habitats so as not contaminated, keeping the culture as part of local wisdom.
From Rakutak touchdown to Ciharus Lake
U will take about 4 hours from the peak Rakutak by ur knee. Go down from the peak Rakutak to lake Ciharus u will go through looooong ridge n valley. Impressive... u will walk opposite flow the river of Ciharus.
So cool n fresh...
Watersheds that we passed is a fertile n moist area.
Very easy to find plant such as konyal, labu siem, pisang hutan, arbey hutan, sintrong (Crassocephalum crepidioides), fulus, tereptep, lember mushrooms, etc.
See!! What we have found... Wild labu siem field, konyal fruit n arbey hutan.
So.. we will cooking party at Ciharus lake.
Be careful if u meet the plant as shown above, the name is tereptep or jancukan (javanese), when touched ur skin will feel ngeurenyeeettt... :)))

At Ciharus lake u can camping or just relax with a cup of coffee enjoying the beauty of nature n fresh air around the lake. A lot of people fishing in here, a lot of fish r planted n grown up in this lake such as tilapia (nila), snakeskin (sepat), mujair, mas, grasshoper etc.
Don't worry... if u do not bring any drinks, there is Mang Acengs warung coffee snack.

They r said that lake Ciharus in westjava is Ranu Kumbolo imitation in eastjava, but that words it seems only apply when sunrise come bcoz the sunrise between two hills, fresh n cool air, quite n the sunshine hasn't yet light up the lake plains, so it doesn't look the detail of different.
The cleanliness is still not maintained, a lot of visitor were not aware yet, if u left ur trash in the wild is not readily biodegradable especially plastics, cans n glass.

If u go to Kamojang or Samarang from lake Ciharus, the way will u take is trail bike track. It has been long time, lake Ciharus used as destination the hobbyist of trail bike to enjoying offroad trail bike track.
As seen in the picture below, this challenging bike trail track has like deep canal, even there had about 3 meters deep. U must careful if u walking or riding on that track bcoz slippery n u could have passed each other.

There r still a lot of homework to keep natural habbit around the lake Ciharus. Needed a lot of parties to work together in one vision, n awareness every people to keep it for our future.
